Earthquakes and Lesbians

So, it's been a fairly uneventful time around here. My cousin S and her friend K came from Wisconsin to visit. It was nice to see her, but it sucks having house guests. You always have to get dressed and shave and all that crap, it's so much effort. They went home today. I think they had a fun time, it's hard to tell, they were so quiet the whole time. Although K's mom did say they were having a lot of fun and it was the trip of a lifetime for them, which I thought was a litlle sad. But i guess coming to CA from WI would be a big deal when you've never left the state before. K saw the ocean for the first time and took a gladware container of sad (aka sand) back home with her, which I thought was funny. We took them to Disneyland, and to South Coast, and they went swimming and worked on their tans a lot, so I think they had a pretty good time. They also got to experience their first earthquake. they actually slpet through the other one we had on Sunday, but they felt today's.

I was at Sven's house on Saturday and spent the night and felt the earthquake. It woke me up, or I was kinda awake, and I was all, I think we're having an earthquake, zzzzzz, lol. When I woke up, I asked Sven if he felt it, but he slpet right through it. Today I was in the bonus room of our house and the dog was lying on the chair in there and I was sitting at the computer, and it started to shake a little, but I just thought it was a pssing truck, as we live near the freeway. But then it lasted a while, and turned into a couple of sharp jolts. It scared the hell out of the dog, and shook me a bit, just cause it's been awhile since we've had a shaker, plus you feel it a lot more on the second story.

I'm really into HGTV and all their fun shows, plus I like that they show gay couples as normal people too. Today on Designer's Challenge there was a lesbian couple. What's up with them? Why do they always look so awful? It's kinda depressing. They were mom jeans and pleated pants and oversized glasses from the 80s. Their hair looks unwashed and is always a variation of the mullet. It's just one of those unanswered questions I guess. What's up with Lesbians?

I was excited today though, as Geri Halliwell's new album Passion finally arrived! It was so worth the wait, it's fantastic! So here is my little review of it:

Passion: A cabaret style sound with a lounge singer flair (in the good way, like the old shows they did in the 20s and such). It's a great introduction to the album. Geri really showcases her ability to use her voice is an extremely sexy and seductive way.

Desire: The second single and a super sexy song. It's all about the feelings we have for someone and the in ability to explain it and the impossiblity to ignore it.

Love Never Loved Me: In my opinion the best song on the album, it has touching lyrics, but is a dance track, it's a great contrast and works so well. It's just an all around kick ass cool song.

Feel The Fear:A beautiful song, and a sort of apology to the four remaining Spices for any pain she may have caused them. It's very touching.

Superstar: Fun a campy, it's the Geri we know and love vamping it up. It's all about having fun and 'playing celebrity' as she says in the song.

Surrender Your Groove: A little more rock than the other songs, put still plenty pop-ish. It's about the high that love can give you. Very fun.

Ride It: The first single, it's pure camptastic Geri. It's danceable, sing-a-longable, and a little naughty. It's fantastic!

There's Always Tomorrow: It has a light feeling to it, even though it's a bittersweet song. It's about realising that there is always a tomorrow, and while today may seem awful, tomorrow is a new day and promises to be better.

Let Me Love You More: This one is about having that love that you never thought you'd have, the one where you love the person more and more each day, and wanting to love them more each moment.

Don't Get Any Better: This is a love you for you song, but it's not crappy like most are. It's funny and smart, and quite catchy. And really, it doesn't get any better than Geri.

Loving Me Back To Life: A tender song about a break up, but in a somewhat good way. Knowing that it's over, but that it was good while it lasted and that it's just time to move on.

So I Give Up On Love: a big band sound with a cabaret flair, it's similar to Passion and pulls the whole album to a close. It ends it with Geri camping it up with talk about boys that have wronged her. It's about thinking you've found mr. right, only to have him turn into mr. wrong. It's geri it top form and an excellent way to end the album

I highly suggest picking this one up, it really is Geri's best work so far. You can preview the songs at itunes Uk (if you are outsidethe UK, go the itunes store and click teh choose store menu bar, you can go to the UK store and listen to clips of the tracks, and if you'relucky enough to live in the UK, you can buy the album from there.)

As a little treat for reading my blog, I give you RIDE IT to downlaod and enjoy for yourself!

  • We felt it at work yesterday! But I'm so slow at these things I didn't realize what was going on until it was over. I wanted to comment on your other post but then was worried you wouldn't read it:

I know what you mean about people asking for money! And I hate to be rude and say "no" to them, but there was this one woman at 'SC who would always search me out because she knew I was a sucker. I gave her clothes and money a few times.

  • My first comment! I feel like I should throw some sort of party, lol.

Is that the sandwich lady? She was a picky bitch!
